Professor Browne graduated in Zoology from Trinity College Dublin in 1972. She is
recognised as one the leading authorities on the life of Charles Darwin. She is author
of the acclaimed two-volume biography Charles Darwin, for which she received the
James Tait Black award for non-fiction, the WH.Heinemann Prize from the Royal
Literary Society, and the Pfizer Prize from the History of Science Society.
She will receive an honorary degree from the University of Dublin on the 10th July.
