The theory of evolution through natural selection is probably the most important and influential scientific theory ever formalised. It is not only the central unifying theory in biology but has important implications for many other fields e.g. religion. Even today some people refuse to accept the theory and it can generate heated debate. In this lecture Professor William Reville will explain the theory in outline and discuss some of its major implications.
